Educate & Empower Our Children & Community.

Miss Schulz RSS
Welcome to First Grade!

I am excited for a productive year together!

I graduated with honors from Temple University’s College of Education in 2010 and I'm currently working on my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Phoenix University. I am certified to teach early childhood, elementary education, and middle school language arts. I have experience in many different classroom settings and I’m looking forward to beginning my fourth year teaching first grade at ETL, especially as our school community implements the "Leader In Me" character education program.

Some of the academic areas we will be focusing on this year include reading, summarizing and evaluating stories, text-based questions and accountable talk, math computation and becoming even better writers, just to name a few. We will also be emphasizing how to work independently and cooperatively in groups.

Homework is an important opportunity for the students to reinforce concepts they have learned through daily classroom activities. It also allows me to determine students’ understanding and adjust lessons accordingly.  Holding students accountable for completing homework is important because it teaches good work habits such as staying organized and being responsible. It should be done BY THE STUDENTS neatly and completely every night. Students should be reading every night. NO EXCUSES.

I believe in a partnership between home and school. Therefore, please feel free to contact me at emmery.schulz@gmail.com or (973) 266-5940 ex 60003 with any questions or concerns.
